I joined the club very soon after
its beginning in 2004, and I’m now on the committee. I have really enjoyed being part of the club and going on Mini
Adventures.
I have had my mini for nearly 2
years, she is my first car and her name is Millie. I bought her with a
completely standard 998cc engine which is still going strong.
She has a hand
painted union jack on the roof and
bonnet stripes (and I mean hand painted with a brush and a tin of gloss paint). She also has minilite wheels.
I’ve made a few changes; a new wing, centre exit exhaust, union jack cushions
in the back and bullet wing mirrors.
My family have had a few Minis over the years including a couple of
vans, one of which was an ex AA van. My
dad cut windows in the sides and put in back seats.Mum
dad and my brother and sister travelled to Scotland, sitting with
all the luggage on the back seat and packed around their ears. They
also had another van in the 70’s which I am told was carpeted out
in the back completely with carpet tiles, yes even the roof, and
tastefully
strewn with cushions for the passengers to recline on!
I’m onto my second project - a 1984 Mini City which I’ve just bought in
pieces. I’m going to have a go at
restoring it. I may need some help!
